Kochi IPL owners meet Kerala CM and Leader of Opposition

Rendezvous Sports World Consortium, which owns the Kochi IPL team, has called on Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan on Wednesday evening and sought support for their venture. The chief minister, who met them at his official residence, asked them to give in writing whatever support they expected from the government, after which it would be discussed with sports minister M Vijaykumar. The delegation comprised franchisee consortium co-owner Vivek Venugopal and CEO P T Keshav. The consortium held talks with Kerala Cricket Association here on Wednesday on organising the Kerala IPL team and holding home matches in the state itself in the next IPL season. Former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor, who participated in the discussions on Wednesday as mentor of the Kochi team, was not present when the delegation met the chief minister. The consortium had also met state opposition leader and former chief minister Oommen Chandy, requesting his support for the initiative.
