Knife attacker in Russia wounds 7, shot by police

In Russia, a man stabbed seven people on the street in country's far north today before being shot dead by the police. But the investigators are saying it was probably not a terrorist attack. Russia's Investigative Committee said, the incident took place in the city of Surgut.<br/><br/>The panel which probes major crimes said, the man carried out attacks on passers-by, causing stab wounds. It said, armed police called to the scene had liquidated the attacker. Regional officials said, the injured were taken to the hospital. The Investigative Committee said, the man was a local resident and they were looking into his possible psychiatric disorders.<br/><br/>A spokesman for regional police however told a news agency that the theory that the incident was a terrorist attack is not the main one. Meanwhile, the Islamic State jihadist group has claimed responsibility of stabbing incident in Russia. In a statement, IS propaganda outlet Amaq said, the executor of the stabbing operation in the city of Surgut in Russia is a soldier of the Islamic State.
