Kolkata Knight Riders have advanced to the main draw of the Champions League Twenty-20 cricket tournament. Even though Jacques Kallis led Kolkata Knight Riders lost their qualifier match against Somerset by 12 runs yesterday, they still managed to make it to the mains, thanks to a brilliant innings from Ryan ten Doeschate that helped KKR cross the qualifying score. Electing to bat, Somerset scored a formidable 166 in the stipulated 20 overs, with crucial contributions from Peter Trego and Roelof van der Merwe. Chasing 167, KKR managed to make 155, needing to cross 153 to qualify for the main draw. Ten Doeschate made a superb 46, ensuring that there will be four IPL teams in the main draw, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai SuperKings, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The main draw of the tournament begins on Friday, with the first group match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Warriors at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
