Indian authorities at the Wagah border today received the mortal remains of Kirpal Singh, who died under mysterious circumstances in a Pakistani jail. Kirpal's family members besides the senior Government officials were present at the Joint check post at Wagah to receive the body. <br/><br/>An official said, the mortal remains would be handed over to the family after a postmortem examination. Kirpal belonged to Gurdaspur in Punjab. He had allegedly crossed Wagah border into Pakistan in 1992 and was arrested. He was subsequently sentenced to death in a serial bomb blasts case in Pakistan's Punjab province. <br/><br/>Kirpal had reportedly been acquitted in the case but his death sentence could not be commuted because of unknown reasons. He was found dead last Monday in a Lahore Jail.
