King of Spain on 4 day visit to New Delhi from today

King of Spain Juan Carlos 1 will be on a four-day State visit to India from today. He will be accorded a ceremonial welcome on Friday. During his stay in New Delhi, he will call on the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee who will host a State banquet in his honour. Delegation level talks are expected to take place between Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and King Carlos who will be accompanied by a high-level ministerial, official and business delegation from Spain. King Carlos will also visit Mumbai during his stay in India.

AIR correspondent reports that the Spanish King’s visit is expected to carry forward the process of high-level interaction and deepen the relations between the two countries. India-Spain bilateral trade was close to 5 billion US Dollars last year which represents 18 per cent growth compared to 2010. Spanish investment in India is over 1.3 billion Dollars where as New Delhi’s total investment in Spain is valued around 605 million Euros.
