The King of Spain Juan Carlos I has invited Indian businessmen to invest in his country. Addressing a lunch meeting with business leaders in Mumbai today, King Juan Carlos I said that although Spain has strong economic relations with India, there is certainly room for improvement and growth. He assured investors that Spain is carrying out far-reaching economic policy measures to tide over its current financial crisis. Leading industrialists from Godrej, Reliance, IDFC, Tata and others were present in the meeting.On the first day of his four day visit to India, the King of Spain also met Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. During the High Tea function held in Raj Bhavan, the King recalled his first visit to India way back in 1962. He said that India is a great nation with growing influence in this increasingly globalised world.King of Spain, King Juan Carlos I is accompanied by high-level delegation comprises chief executives from sectors like renewable energy, infrastructure and public transport, as also the ministers for foreign affairs and co-operation, defence, industry, energy and tourism.
