In Badminton, India's Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the second round of Malaysia Open at Kuala Lumpur today. He defeated World number five, Indonesian Jonatan Christie 12-21 21-18 21-16 in the Opening round. Srikanth will next face former world number one Hong Kong's NG Ka Long Angus in the pre-quarterfinals.

Women's Doubles pair Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto also progressed to the second round after overpowering American duo Francesca Corbett and Allison Lee 21-13, 21-16 in the first round.

Tomorrow, other Indian shuttlers including Lakhsya Sen, HS Prannoy and Men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take the court for first round action.
