The Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid today presented the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Literacy Award for the year 2005 to three educational societies at a function in New Delhi. The winners are Hamdard Education Society, New Delhi, Muslim Education Society, Kerala and F.D Education Society, Gujarat. The recipients were given a cheque of one lakh rupees and a commendation certificate each in recognition of their performance towards educational development of minorities.
On the ocassion, Mr Khurshid also launched a website of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation. The website is aimed at providing opportunity for online submission of applications for grant-in-aid as well as scholarships.
