Khurshid calls for integrated response by Judiciary & Executive for prompt justice delivery

Law and Justice Minister Salman Khurshid today called for a well coordinated response by Executive and Judiciary for speeding up its delivery.

About 14 thousand lower Courts are being set up in five years to reduce the pendency of cases.

The Union Cabinet has approved a mission to speed up the delivery mechanism in lower courts in June this year and an amount of over five thousand five hundred crore rupees are being spent to implement the mission.

Addressing the first meeting of the Advisory Council for Justice delivery and legal reforms set up after setting up of the mission, Mr. Khurshid said that it is important to reduce the pendency of cases in the courts.

This, he said will restore the confidence of the people in the role of law and ensures that legal system promotes justice.

The Advisory Council discussed a number of proposals to tone up the justice delivery system in the country.
