Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar has been appointed as the new chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for a three-year term. He will take over as TRAI Chairman today. A 1975 batch IAS officer of Delhi cadre, Mr Khullar will succeed JS Sarma, whose tenure ended yesterday.
As Commerce Secretary, Mr Khullar is credited with trade normalisation between India and Pakistan. He has also been
successful in implementing measures that helped exports cross 300 billion Dollar mark in 2011-12.
