The 20-year old Sartaj Singh Tiwana defeated Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar in the finals of the 50-metre rifle three positions event at the Khelo India University Games in Bengaluru.
It was a surprise outcome at the SAI Shooting Range when Sartaj representing Lovely Professional University won the Gold and pipped Aishwary Pratap Singh who was the favourite to win the event. Aishwary had represented India in the recently held Tokyo Olympics. He represents Guru Nanak Dev University.
Some of the results of events played yesterday were announced today. In the men's 10-metre pistol final Varun Tomar from CCS Meerut won Gold, Surinder Singh from Punjabi University won Silver and Anmol Jain from Maharishi Dayanand University won Bronze.
In the team events in shooting Delhi University won Gold, Punjabi University won Silver and Chaudhary Charan Singh University won Bronze in the 50-metre rifle event.
