With competition in athletics coming to an end on Saturday in Khelo India School Games, Tamil Nadu leads the medals tally in athletics with 19 medals of which 5 are gold and 8 silver. Kerala follows next with 17 medals, Haryana 12 medals and Maharashtra 11 medals. They all got 5 golds each. Though Uttar Pradesh got 16 medals, its gold tally in athletics is only 2. The winners of 5000 meter boys race on Saturday were Paramjeet Singh of Uttarakhand -gold and Mukesh Kumar, also of Uttarakhand getting silver. Mansi Negi of Uttarakhand won gold in 3,000 meter girls race walk and K M.Munita Prajapati from the same state got silver. Taking other events like wrestling, swimming into account, Maharashtra had a total of 25 medals on Friday as compared to 23 for Haryana and 20 for Karnataka.
