Kharif crop insurance date extended by 10 days for maximum ?benefit of PFBY to farmers

Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh today said that to provide maximum ?benefit of Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojna, PFBY to the farmers, the last date for Kharif crop insurance has been extended by ten days till 10th of this month. <br/><br/>He said twenty two states are implementing this scheme but Bihar government has refused to implement it, may be for political reasons . In the year 2015, around three crore sixty lakh farmers got them covered under the scheme of PFBY which is expected to go up to more than four crore this year, he said. <br/><br/>Terming the PM Fasal Bima Yojna as extremely beneficial to the farmers the union agriculture minister said that for Rabi crops the premium rate for farmers will be 1.5% of the input while for Kharif it will be 2%. It is up to the state governments to make clusters of the districts keeping their crop risk factor in view, the final insurance premium are to be decided by insurance companies. <br/><br/>The USP of this scheme is that the covered farmers in case of their crop destruction, will get 25% of the loss atonce while remaining 75% will be provided to him within a month, minister said.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the UP government has issued notification about Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna on 16th June 2016 covering eleven crops. In 2015, around 16 lakh ninety thousand farmers had enrolled for the Fasal Bima Yojna in the state. <br/><br/>Talking about soil health Card scheme of the union government, Radha Mohan Sigh said that the government has received around ten crore soil samples for which the Soil Health Card will soon be issued. He also said that the government is in process of establishing a unified 'E-Trading Platform' connecting all 585 'Krishak Mandis' of the country.
