Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge today met the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan at her office over his party’s demand for Leader of Opposition, LoP status in the House. Mr Kharge, accompanied by his party MPs Captain Amrinder Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia handed over a memorandum signed by 60 UPA MPs in this regard. Congress which has 44 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, has been insisting for the LoP post claiming that it is the single largest party in the opposition and had pre-poll alliance with other parties.
