The Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge today launched the Web Portal to impart training and certification for better employment of the workforce in the unorganised sector. The portal is www.sdi.gov.in and has been launched under the Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS).

Speaking on the ocassion, Mr. Kharge said, the Portal of the Director General of Employment and Training will help track and monitor the outcome of the Skill Development Scheme. Mr. Kharge said, the National Policy on Skill development envisages to empower all individuals with knowledge and trainning for gaining decent employment. The Labour minister also stressed on the need for effective delivery of the benefits of government schemes to the desired beneficiaries.

Mr. Kharge said, the SDIS is to meet the demand for 500 million skilled workforce by 2022. He said the scheme is being implemented under the government policy of providing Good governance build upon total transparency.
