Various organisations from commerce and industry sector on Tuesday urged the Finance Minister Mr Pranav Mukerjee to introduce Goods and Services Tax as early as possible. Mr Mukerjee held a pre budget discussion on Tuesday with organisations like FICCI, ASSOCHAM, CII and associations of various industries like cement, textile etc.FICCI president Mr Harsh Pati Singhania told reporters after meeting that discussion was focused on early introduction of GST and reducing Minimum Alteration Tax by at least up to 10%. The business leaders also urged the finance minister to continue the fiscal stimulus measures provided to the industry and not to take hard fiscal measures to combat the impact of the global financial meltdown. The industry representatives of the leading chambers also suggested that private sector investment in agri infrastructures should be promoted.
