Key equity indices end on negative note

The Key equity indices ended on a negative note on Monday (26th February 2024) with Nifty below 22,150 amid selling across the sectors barring oil & gas, power and capital goods.

At close, the Sensex was down 353 points or half a per cent at 72,790, and the Nifty was down 91 points or 0.40 per cent at 22,122.

In the Sensex index, which is a pack of 30 companies, shares of 25 companies declined while those of only 5 companies appreciated.

Among the Sensex shares, Asian Paints fell the most by 3.9 per cent, followed by Tata Steel and Titan which fell around two per cent.

On the other hand, Larsen and Toubro gained the most by 2.36 per cent. Power Grid, HUL and Nestle were also among the gainers.

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index declined 0.40 per cent while the Small-cap index fell 0.06 per cent.

In the sectoral indices at the BSE, Metal, Consumer Durables and Teck indices declined over one per cent.
On the other side, Utilities and power indices ended over one per cent higher.
