Key domestic indices end flat for second session in a row amid mixed cues from global share markets

The Key domestic indices ended flat for the second session in a row amid mixed cues from the global share markets. The BSE sensex slipped 48 points, or 0.07 percent, to close this week at 65,970. The NSE Nifty inched down seven points, or 0.04 percent, and closed this week at 19,795.

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-cap index rose by 0.13 percent and the Small-cap index added 0.14 percent.

In the Sensex index, which is a pack of 30 companies, shares of 10 companies appreciated while 20 companies declined. Axis Bank increased by 0.91 percent, JSW Steel rose by 0.81 percent and HDFC Bank added 0.68 percent.

On the other hand, HCL Tech and Wipro fell one and a half a percent each. TCS declined 1.46 percent and Tech Mahindra and Nestle India, both lost around 1 percent.

In sectoral indices at the BSE, 11 sectors gained and 9 declined. Capital Goods gained 0.6 percent. Healthcare and Utilities rose by half a percent each. Bankex and Services, both sectors added 0.43 percent.

On the other side, Tech and Information Technology, both sectors fell 0.9 percent. FMCG declined  half a percent and Oil & Gas lost 0.42 percent.

The overall market breadth was negative, as the shares of 1,803 companies appreciated while those of 1,871 declined. A total of 140 companies remain unchanged.
