Key Asian markets ended mixed today

Key Asian markets ended mixed, today. So, Japan's Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.3 percent; and Singapore's Straits Times index fell 0.1 percent. But Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.6 percent. The Chinese and South Korean markets were closed for a holiday. In Europe, UK's FTSE-100 had gained 0.1 percent; and Germany's DAX had added 0.2 percent, but France's CAC-40 had slipped 0.1 percent in intra-day trade. Both the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan hold policy meetings next Wednesday. The BOJ could possibly debate cutting the bank's rates further and changes to its already massive asset-buying program. Meanwhile, the Bank of England is meeting today, and is widely expected to maintain status quo after cutting rates and ramping up its stimulus program last month in a bid to limit any Brexit damage to the UK economy.
