Kerry says, PM Narendra Modi’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” is great vision

US Secretary of State John Kerry has said, the developmental plan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected in his poll slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” is a great vision.

In a major foreign policy speech on India on the eve of his departure to India, Mr. Kerry said, the US is ready to be partner with the new Indian government in its endeavour.

Kerry will be in New Delhi to co-chair the fifth annual India-US Strategic Dialogue with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

Meanwhile, atop American think-tank yesterday launched a programme, “India:2020”, which will examine short and long term policy priorities for every aspect of the India- US strategic partnership.In a statement, the think tank said, 'India: 2020' seeks to build and expand upon strong foundation of existing work on South Asia by CAP. It will analyse why the gap exists between the current realities and hopes for the relationship.

US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki has said that the India visit of Secretary of State John Kerry will lay the groundwork for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington in September to meet President Barack Obama. Mr. Kerry will be accompanied by Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, who will lead discussions to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Psaki said, in addition to holding the Strategic Dialogue, Kerry will meet Modi, the first cabinet-level meeting with a US official since the inauguration of the new Indian government. She said, discussion will cover the full range of bilateral issues, including expanding bilateral trade, tackling climate change, improving India's energy security through cooperation in clean energy and energy access, and expanding the already robust people-to-people ties.
