Kerala has welcomed the Supreme Court decision to constitute a five member expert committe in the Mullapperiyar dam case between the state and Tamil Nadu. Addressing a joint press conference, Kerala Chief Minister Mr V S Achuthanandhan said that the apex court is convinced of the safety concern raised by the state about 114 year old dam.<br/><br/>Welcoming the decision of the Supreme Court to constitute a five member expert committee in the Mullapperiyar dam case, Kerala Chief Minister said that the move further consolidates the state's stand on the issue.<br/><br/>He said that submission of report relating to safety aspects, raising the water level and Kerala's demand for building a new dam can lead to solving the age old legal tussle between the two states.<br/><br/>The Water Resources Minister of Kerala pointed out that the case relates to inter- state water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Kerala and the Supreme Court is convinced of this aspect. He said that Kerala is willing to build a new dam and share water with Tamil Nadu.<br/>
