Kerala Government has once again urged the Centre to intervene urgently in the Mullapperiyar dam issue between the state and Tamil Nadu.Addressing the media in Thiruvanathapuram, State water resources minister P J Joseph said that 116 year old dam has become further unsafe due to frequent seismic activity in Idukki district this year. The minister said that the water level of the dam needs to be reduced to 120 feet on war footing. He urged the national parties to express their views on the sensitive issue.Mr Joseph said that Kerala is prepared to give any undertaking either to the Centre or the Supreme Court assuring water supply to Tamil Nadu. The minister added that a ministerial delegation from Kerala will be meeting the Prime Minister in Delhi on Monday on the issue.
