In Kerala, the United Democratic Front – UDF has decided not to field any one associated with terror links in the forthcoming local body polls in the state. Briefing media persons after the UDF meet in Kochi today, its Convenor P. P. Thankachan said seat sharing talks with other partners in the front will be completed by the 15th of this month. He said winnability will be the main factor in deciding the candidates and candidates will be sternly dealt with. He said UDF leaders will again meet on the 13th of this month at Thiruvananthapuram and finalise the election manifesto for the local body polls. UDF leaders will also meet the state Chief Minister, demanding the ouster of Finance Minister Dr Thomas Issac over the lottery issue and Excise Minister P K Gurudasan in connection with the Malappuram hooch tragedy. Thankachan said the UDF campaign for the local body polls will mainly focus on corruption in the state government , particularly corruption in local bodies governed by the Left Democratic Front.
