Kerala government has decided to give Rs. 10 lakh to those athletes from the state who won Gold medals in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games. Briefing newspersons after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V.S.Achuthanandan said Rs. 7.5 lakh will be given to Silver winners and Rs. 5 lakh to those who won Bronze medals. Coaches will get Rs. One lakh each.The State Cabinet also decided to recommend to the Governor for promulgating an ordinance to set up Kerala Fisheries University.Referring to the recently held local bodies elections, Chief Minister said the Congress led U.D.F made gains by entering into tieups with communal forces. Mr. Achuthanandan said the LDF will evaluate the reasons for the electoral setback and take corrective measures to win back people's confidence. Chief Minister said the left front will not have any truck with communal forces.
