In Kerala, as COVID cases are on a rise, complete lockdown has been declared in the coastal regions of Thiruvananthapuram district from midnight today. <br />''<br />''AIR Correspondent reports, the lockdown will be effective for coming 10 days, without any relaxations. Only emergency services are permitted in the region. Vehicles will only be allowed on highways. People are strictly prohibited from venturing out except for emergencies. <br />''<br />''Large scale COVID testing is being carried out in the regions. Special first line COVID Care Centres are also being opened.  Meanwhile, 593 new COVID cases are confirmed in the State today, among which 364 cases are through local transmission. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Two deaths due to COVID were also reported taking the death toll in the state to 40,204 persons recovered from the disease today.
