Kerala reports over 1,000 COVID-19 cases in a single day for first time

In Kerala, over 1,000 COVID-19 cases were recorded for the first time in a day, as 1,038 positive cases were confirmed today. <br />''<br />''AIR Correspondent reports, causing major concern, among the new cases, 785 persons contracted the disease through contact, and the source could not be ascertained in 57 cases. <br />''<br />''Thiruvananthapuram continues to be the worst hit area, recording the highest number of cases, 226. The city is presently under lockdown. As COVID cases are on a rise, curfew has been declared in Aluva containment cluster in Ernakulam district. <br />''<br />''Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the first line treatment centres will be expanded along with enhancing the medical and testing facilities across the State. The Chief Minister further said that complete lockdown in the State may also be considered, if the COVID situation continues to remain worrisome. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, the State also confirmed one more COVID death in Idukki district. Presently 8,818 active COVID cases are there in Kerala. </span><br />
