Kerala Rains: IMD issues yellow alert in seven districts in central and northern region

Many parts of Kerala received intermittent heavy rain this morning. The Met Department has issued a yellow alert in seven districts in central and northern Kerala, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports that several hilly regions of the state received heavy rainfall this morning, especially in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. One hundred and eighty-three families in Wayanad have been shifted to 15 camps due to heavy rains. The Kabini river is in spate. The entry of people into tourist spots and forest areas has been restricted.<br />'' <br />''The hilly areas of Puduppady, Adivaram, Kakkayam, and Thiruvambady in Kozhikode received heavy rain this morning. In Palakkad, three spillway shutters of the Kanjirapuzha dam were raised 60 cm each, following which the district authorities have asked those living along the banks of Kanjirapuzha, Kunthipuzha, Thoothapuzha, and Bharatapuzha to remain alert. Damage to houses and agricultural crops has been reported at Nadathara and Cherppu in Thrissur due to strong winds.
