In Kerala, Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly V S Achuthanandan today sought the centre's intervention to tackle various issues being faced by expatriates from the state. He was inaugurating a march organised by the CPI-M at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery, in protest against frequent cancellation of Air India flights to the Gulf region. He alleged that the state government is not doing anything to address the problems faced by expatriates, whose remittances to the state runs into several crores. The CPI-M also organised similar marches to the other two international airports in the state. In Thiruvananthapuram the march was inaugurated by party State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, while party leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the march at Karipur.
