Kerala: Met dept issues yellow alert in 7 districts indicating possibility of isolated heavy rainfall

Met Department has issued yellow alert in seven southern and central districts of Kerala, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall today. The warning covers Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam  and Idukki districts. IMD said squally weather with strong winds gusting up to 60 kmph is very likely along and off Kerala coast, South Tamil Nadu, and Camorin area. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed across parts of the state last evening. In Idukki, a youth died when he was struck by lightning at a tourist centre. Three others who were with him were injured. In another incident in Kannur, a welding worker lost his life as lightning hit him. Many houses were damaged following the uprooting of trees in Wayand district. Damage to agricultural crops was also reported in several places.<br />''  <br />
