In Kerala, in the second phase of election to local self government institutions, 39 per cent polling has been recorded in the first five hours of voting. Seven districts of Alappuzha, Eranakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram are going to the poll on Monday.One crore twenty three lakh voters are eligible to vote. Long queues of women and elderly people are seen in polling booths especially in tribal and minority dominated areas. Like the first phase of voting held day before yesterday, polling percentage is to go up considerably.The first phase of election recorded 75.33 per cent polling. The present polling prior to the forthcoming assembly election in May next year has evoked considerable enthusiasm in party workers and voters alike. The results will be announced on Wednesday.
