The Kerala Kalamandalam fellowship and awards for 2009 have been announced. Noted Kathakali artiste Kalamandalam Vasu Pisharody has been selected for Kalamandalam fellowship. The fellowship carries a cash prize of 25,000 rupees, a citation and a plaque. Kathakali actor Kottakkal Gopi Nair has been selected for the Kalaratna Award. M P S Namboodiri [Kathakali actor], Madampi Subramanian Namboodiri [music], Sadanam Vasudeven [chenda], Kalamandalam Shivaraman [chutti], Kalamandalam Haimavathy [ dance ], P K Rajeev Kumar [music] are among the other award winners. State Transport Minister Jose Thetteyil will give away the awards at a function to be held at Cheruthuruthy in Thrissur district next Tuesday.
