Kerala Government has introduced physical education in the school curriculum. Chief Minister VS Achuthanandhan formally announced this today on Children’s Day at Thiruvanathapuram. Kerala is the first state in the country to make physical education mandatory for school children by making it part of curriculum. With this, one period will be fixed for physical education and related training from first to twelfth standard. The decision is based on many survey reports that physical fitness of majority of students in Kerala is very low.
