The Kerala High Court today upheld a CBI Special Court order, sentencing former IG of Police, K Lakshmana to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of Varghese, a Naxalite. Varghese was shot dead by the police in February 1970 at Thirunelli forests in Wynad district of Kerala. A Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice S S Satheesachandran also upheld the CBI Court verdict acquitting former DGP P Vijayan in the case.
