The Kerala High Court today dismissed a petition filed by the state government seeking a review of an earlier court order banning roadside meetings in the state.The Division Bench comprising Justice C N Ramachandran Nair and Justice P S Gopinathan noted that the fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression or to assemble do not entitle anyone to hold meeting on roadsides. The court said one person's fundamental right of speech and expression or to assemble should not interfere with the freedom of peaceful living or movement of another.The High Court also dismissed a rescue petition filed by the state government seeking to restrain Justice C N Ramachandran Nair from hearing the review petition on the judgement prohibiting roadside meetings.
