The Kerala High Court today dismissed a petition filed by the former Idukki District Secretary of the CPI-M, M M Mani, seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against him in connection with a public speech, in which he claimed that his party prepared a hit list and eliminated its political opponents. Observing that the speech shocked the civilized society, Justice S S Satheeshachandran said the speech of the petitioner and the revelations made therein prima facie discloses commission of cognizable offence. The court said this fully justified the registration of the crime and the investigations proceeded therein.
