The Kerala High Court today dismissed anticipatory bail petitions of two CPI-M leaders in connection with the Mohammed Fasal murder case. Stating that the duo had a role in the conspiracy to do away with Fasal, the court dismissed their petitions. Fasal, who switched over from CPI-M to National Defence Force (NDF) was allegedly murdered by CPI-M activists at Thalassery in 2006. The case was handed over to the CBI following a High Court order. Meanwhile, in a related development, Justice S S Satheesachandran of the Kerala High Court directed the CBI to produce the progress report relating to the Fasal murder case within a week. This was on a petition moved by Mohammed Fasal's widow Mariyu, seeking a direction to conduct an effective and meaningful investigation to bring out all conspirators involved in the murder.
