Kerala HC allows conditional stay

The Kerala High Court today allowed a conditional stay on its earlier order declaring the election of Kodikunnil Suresh from the Mavelikkara Reserved Parliamentary constituency as void. The stay will be in force for three weeks, enabling him to file an appeal before the Supreme Court. Allowing a petition filed on Tuesday by Kodikkunnil Suresh seeking a stay on the earlier order, Justice M Sasidharan Nambiar allowed him to attend Parliamentary proceedings. The Court directed him not to draw perks and barred him from casting votes or taking part in Parliamentary Committee meetings. It may be recalled that on Monday, the Kerala High Court had declared his election void as it found that Kodikkunnil Suresh did not belong to the Scheduled Castes.
