Kerala government is all set to launch an innovative health care programme to benefit lakhs of patients suffering from cancer, kidney ailments and cardiac problems. Families having annual income of up to two and a half lakh rupees will be benefited.Setting a good example to other states recently Kerala government has launched a lottery scheme to extend a helping hand to poor patients suffering from ailments like cancer, cardiac and kidney problems and palliative issues. Through Karunnya lottery scheme the state has already mobilized 15 crore rupee for this path-breaking health care programme. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will launch the scheme on 26th of this month. Apart from government hospitals accredited private hospitals will provide treatment including operation and post operative care under the scheme. To ensure non diversion, financial help of two lakh rupees will be given to hospitals directly by the government.
