Kerala Government is working on a major initiative to implement Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee scheme more effectively in the state. Addressing a function of state panchayatiraj department at Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister Oommen Chandi said that the Centre has been approached to include more works including asset creation under the scheme.The Chief Minister pointed out that the ongoing social auditing indicates that many of the benefits under the scheme are not reaching the workers on time. Mr Chandy also released a citizen's charter indicating different services to be provided by the panchayats of Kerala.
