Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today that the State would give due importance to the growth and development of sports. Inaugurating the renovated swimming pool in the waterworks premises at Vellayambalam in Thiruvananthapuram, he said Kerala is showing a phenomenal enthusiasm in sports, especially after the success of 'Run Kerala Run' that took place as a prelude to the 35th National Games. He said it indicated that Kerala is shaping up as a role model for sports in India.The water works swimming pool has been a proud entity for generations of people in Thiruvananthapuram. The Chief Minister said that it is indeed a good thing that the swimming pool has now undergone renovation and after the games, it should also become useful to the public.
