Kerala Govt. orders judicial enquiry into Thekkady boat tragedy

Kerala Chief Minister Mr V S Achuthanandhan has ordered a judicial enquiry into the boat tragedy that killed 37 people at Thekkady yesterday. He said that a sitting judge of the High Court will be probing the accident.The Chief Minister has announced financial assistance of five lakh rupees each to the relatives of those who perished in the tragedy. A high level team including several state ministers are monitoring the rescue and relief work at Thekkady.Search for more bodies is continuing at Thekkady Lake in Kerala, where a boat carrying 76 tourists capsized on Wednesday evening. Six bodies have been recovered since Thursday morning, taking the total 37. Among the bodies identified, 11 each are from Delhi and Tamil Nadu, five from West Bengal, four from Andhra Pradesh, three from Karnataka and one from Punjab.Police sources indicated that five more tourists are believed to be missing.
