In a glittering function at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Government honoured Common Wealth and Asian Games medal winners from the state. Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan gave away cash prize of 17.50 lakh rupees to Preeja Sreedharan , winner of gold and silver medals in Guangzhou Asian Games and twenty lakh rupees to Sini Jose who was member of the gold medal winning relay team of both the games.Thirteen other Keralite athelets who brought laurels to the country in these games were also honoured. While silver medal winners were presented with 7.5 lakh rupees, bronze medalists received five lakh rupees each. Opposition leader Oommen Chandy and a galaxy of ministers and people's representatives graced the function.
