Kerala government has decided to renovate the road networks of the state on war footing using state funds and seeking assistance from the centre.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy informed the media after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday that rupees 20.69 crore will be incurred to renovate national highways and another 74.42 crore will be spend for roads under Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi corporations.For other road networks, an amount of rupees 314 crore has been earmarked.The state cabinet also decided to seek assistance of 1000 crore from the centre for overall road renovation. It has been decided to take back 8517 kilometer road with the district panchayats and hand over to public works department.The cabinet also approved land acquisition and habitat policies of the state. Rapid action force will be deployed to tackle the menace of wild elephants in some districts of Kerala.
