The Kerala Director General of Prosecutions V G Govindan Nair died at a private hospital in Kochi this morning. He was 73. <br/><br/>He was suffering from liver cancer and was admitted to the hospital for the past one week, where he breathed his last. <br/><br/>Besides being a well known civil and criminal lawyer, Govindan Nair was also a keen sports enthusiast. He had served as a member of the executive committee of the Indian Olympic Committee and was also the President of the Kerala Olympic Association and the Kerala Sports Council. He also served as a member of the Kerala Sports Commission, before being appointed as the Director General of Prosecutions. <br/>The funeral will take place at Vattappara in Thiruvananthapuram this evening. <br/>
