Kerala court rejects CBI petition on Muthoot murder case

The Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Ernakulam today rejected a petition filed by the CBI seeking custody of ten accused in the Muthoot Paul M George murder case.<br/>The court rejected the CBI plea on the grounds that police custody can be sought only during the first 14 days of the arrest.<br/>The Court however permitted the CBI to interrogate the accused from 6 am to 8 pm, whenever required. Recently, the Kerala High Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the murder and wanted the investigation agency to complete the probe within six months.<br/>Paul, son of prominent businessman M G George Muthoot was waylaid by a criminal gang on Alappuzha – Changanacherry road in August last year.
