Kerala confirms 18,123 new COVID-19 cases

Kerala continues to report surge in Covid figures as it confirmed  18,123 new COVID-19 positive cases today. The capital city of Thiruvananthapuram has reported the highest number of infections with 3917 fresh cases. Ernakulam reported 3204 new Covid positive cases. A total of 59,314 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate has increased and at present the TPR stands at 30.55 percent. Eight  deaths were also confirmed due to COVID today. With this the total death toll in the state has reached to  50,832. Bringing respite, 4749 recoveries were also reported today.  At present, 1,03,864 is the active caseload in the state.<br />''   <br />'' As the Covid hike in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts are exceptionally high with the confirmation rate more than 30 percent, stricter restrictions have been imposed on the districts. The health department has warned of extreme caution. Tests will be increased. The district administration warned that the COVID protocol and  quarantine norms should not be neglected.<br />''   <br />'' Moreover, in the wake of the unprecedented increase in Covid cases, Court proceedings in Kerala will go online from tomorrow. The sitting of all the benches in the High Court will be held through video conference from tomorrow.
