Kerala CM urges universities to create legal awareness amongst public

The Kerala Chief Minister Mr V S Achuthanandan on Saturday called upon universities on to create an environment to uphold the rule of law by creating legal awareness amongst the public.<br/><br/>He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the National University for Advanced Legal Studies [NUALS] campus at Kalamassery in Kochi on Saturday.<br/><br/>Mr. Achuthanandan said the state government has earmarked 121 crore rupees for higher education sector in the next fiscal, a 112 per cent increase over the current financial year. The Chief Minister said the government has decided to improve library facilities in universities and colleges, and permit outsiders interested in research work to use them.<br/><br/>The Chancellor of NUALS and Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, Justice J Chelameshwar, Minister of State for Agriculture Prof K V Thomas, Education Minister Mr. M A Baby were among those who participated.<br/>
