In Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will expand the Congress led UDF government on Monday by inducting thirteen new ministers. AIR correspondent reports, while, nine ministers are from the Congress, three ministers are from Indian Union Muslim League and one member belongs to Kerala Congress (M). With the swearing in of new ministers at Rajbhavan in Thiruvananthapuram this evening, the total strength of Oommen Chandy government in Kerala will go up to twenty. Today's expansion is taking place after prolonged discussion within the Congress and also with other constituent parties of the UDF. Names of speaker, deputy speaker and parliamentary affairs minister is likely to be decided by late evening after the cabinet meeting. Oommen Chandy government enjoys a very thin majority in 140 member Kerala assembly.
