Chief Minister of Kerala Ommen Chandy on Thursday called on Union Minister of Steel Beni Prasad Verma in New Delhi to discuss various steel projects which are proposed in the State. During the meeting, Mr Chandy briefed Mr. Verma about the present status and future roadmap for the Joint Venture of Steel Authority of india Limited, SAIL and Steel Complex Limited. The setting up of a Titanium Sponge Plant and setting up of Rare Earth Mineral Beneficiation Project in joint venture with National Mineral Development Corporation, NMDC, was also discussed during the meeting.

AIR correspondent reports that a MoU was signed between State-owned Company Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited, KIOCL, and Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation in presence of the Steel Minister and Chief Minister with a view to explore the possibility of iron ore mining and other allied activities in Kerala.
