In Kerala, CPI(M) led opposition walked out of the state assembly protesting against the alleged failure of the state government in containing cholera deaths in tribal areas of Wayanad district. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy informed the house that contaminated drinking water resulted in spreading of cholera. Six tribal people lost their lives due to the disease. He said that safe drinking water is being distributed even in remote places and all health care system is in place as of now. Fifty two tribal families will be provided with modern latrines within a month. However, the opposition leader V.S.Achuthanandan blamed the government for inaction. The opposition subsequently walked out of the house in protest.
